This is just one of many well deserved accolades given to Russell Kingston over the years. Anyone in Aviculture who owns his Keeping and Breeding Finches and Seedeaters can attest to his through presentation of every aspect in owning and breeding finches.
His latest work, THE FINCH …a Breeder’s Companion has surpassed all of his previous efforts. 5 years in the making, Russell has traveled the world to gain photographs of the birds in their native habitat as well as interviewing world renowned finch breeders throughout the world. As well as detailing Russell's personal experiences both in the keeping and breeding of the finches, he also writes about his experiences in the wild. The book has over 520 pages, weighs approx. 5.4 pounds and measures 8.5 by 12 inches. The book displays photographs of the finches in their native habitat, and drawings illustrating distribution in the wild, sexing of the finches and their nests habits. The book also contains other chapters on Breeding, Housing, Husbandry, Health and Nutrition and Conservation.
THE FINCH …a Breeder’s Companion covers 70 species using 400 color photos. Closely related species are treated separately, but are grouped together in 25 chapters.
I have been waiting a very long time for this book…ever since 2005 when Keeping and Breeding Seedeaters went out of print. I have to tell you that I am not disappointed by the extraordinary quality of this book, as well as the overwhelming amount of information on any species of finch that I may ever want to own and breed.
