Health Programmes for PET BIRDS

 Birds that do not receive a balanced diet are prone to illness, are unhappy and unable to fulfill their potential as pets. Dr Marshall has developed a complete range of nutritional supplements that provide your bird with the additional protein, fatty acids, vitamins minerals and trace elements required for superior health. These nutritional supplements have been incorporated into an ongoing Health Programme that ensures your bird remains perfectly happy and healthy.

Within three weeks of starting the health program your bird will become happier and more active. The feathers and beak will increase in shine and color intensity, reflecting a bird in perfect health.

Health Programme for Budgies, Cockatiels, Parrots, Canaries & Finches

1. KD is prepared by adding ¼ teaspoon to a liter of water. The drinking vessel is filled from this liter and the remainder is used to clean out the cage.

2. Dufoplus (5 drops) and Ioford (10 drops) are mixed together into 4ozs of drinking water and safely left for two days, as they are sugar free. Dufoplus and Ioford may also be added to passion fruit. They provide the vitamins and trace elements necessary for good health. The signs of improved health are visible by the more intense green, blue and yellow color of the plumage, beak and feet, together with whiter whites in the feathers and an increase activity and talking ability.

3. Six (6) drops of Turbobooster is mixed thoroughly into 4ozs of seed, then a level green ¼ teaspoon of ePowder and F-Vite is mixed into it. The ePowder and F-Vite stick to the Turbobooster oil-impregnated seed, providing your bird with the fatty acids, protein and minerals necessary for good health. Glossy strong feathers and increased vitality are the health changes you will notice within three weeks of using these products. In hot weather, when temperatures are above 72°F (25° C), it is necessary to prepare these fresh daily; otherwise, in winter, the seed can be left unchanged for the full three days.

Health Programmes for Seed & Fruit Eating Parrots, Eclectus, Conures, Macaws & Amazons

This group of parrots requires a diet of fruit and seeds. The food supplements we recommend can be added to the seed and in the water as outlined in the chart or given with your parrot’s favorite fruit. Passionfruit is a particularly good fruit to use: 6 drops of Turbobooster, 5 drops of Ioford and 5 drops of Dufoplus are mixed inside a passion fruit, then sprinkle on top ¼ teasp. each of ePowder and  F-Vite.

Note: For aviary birds, Turbobooster may be added to fruit or soft food mix. ¼ teaspoon measure of F-Vite and ePowder are added to 4ozs of soft food.

Additional fatty acids are also required. In their wild habitat, rainforest fruit, nuts and insects provide this source of nutrition.

Lorikeets

Lorikeets are particularly susceptible to bacterial and yeast contamination from the food and cage. KD Powder, at water cleanser dose, should be used daily to clean their food containers and weekly to clean the cage. ePowder should be made available in a finger drawer or small dish fresh daily. This is a potent source of vitamin B used during recovery from illness. It is highly palatable to Lorikeets and can be used on a daily basis as part of their routine diet.

5. Turbobooster, Dufoplus and Ioford are added to fruit juice daily for three consecutive days. Into 1 teaspoon of juice using a teaspoon measure, add 6 drops of Turbobooster, 5 drops of Ioford and 5 drops of Dufoplus. Turbobooster provides the protein and essential fatty acids that are a neglected part of Lorikeet nutrition. Dufoplus and Ioford provide the extra vitamin A and trace elements needed for perfect health.
