Measuring 1 Liter and larger quantities of Milliliters (150ml, 500ml, 750ml) of liquid, I suggest you purchase a 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup (or a 1 cup if you find that you never mix more than 1 cup of liquid per day {250ml}). On the reverse side from the American measurements (ounces, cups, quart) you will find the Metric liquid measurements (milliliters). My suggestion is that you use the Metric measurements for measuring out your liquid water requirements, as they are easy enough to read on this large measuring cup; and there are no true equivalents that will be accurate between the two systems. For example, 1 quart is .95 of a liter. It will be near impossible to figure out what .95 of a liter is. Therefore, use the milliliter measurements (500ml, 750ml, 1000ml) for the water measurements and the American approximations I’ve given above for your dry measurements.

Measuring smaller quantities of milliliters (.5ml, 1ml, 2ml) you will need a hypodermic syringe without a needle attached. I suggest that you use a 1cc or 1ml syringe instead of a 2cc or 3cc syringe, as it will be much easier to see the liquid for the smaller amounts. Below I discuss the various products that are part of Dr Marshall's Health Programmes, and how to mix them using the above conversions. Most of them will need to be mixed daily, but a few can be mixed every 3-4 days. If you have only a few pet birds, you will probably need no more than 150ml of drinking liquid in any one day. However, this is will be dependent upon the type of watering system that you are using (dishes, bottles, tubes).

Mixing Instructions for Dr Rob Marshall’s Products
In Small Quantities

KD Water Cleanser is mixed at a rate of 1/4 teaspoon per liter of water. You can mix it at 1/8 teaspoon per 500ml (2 cups) of water, but this would be the smallest amount since I am not aware of a measuring spoon smaller than 1/8 teaspoon. Never mix KD into the water with any other supplement or medication.

The KD can be used for 1 or 2 days each week. You do not need to mix it fresh each day. If after filling your water bottles or dishes, you have some left, you can let your birds take a bath in this same mixture.

The following mixing rates will be calculated for 2 ounces (50 milliliters) of drinking water. If you need less water, cut the dosages accordingly. If you need more water increase them accordingly. These dosing rates are for Finches. If you need to mix for other species, please contact me. Laraine@ladygouldian.com

Megamix  - the amount of Megamix added to the drinking water depends upon the pH of your water source or the humidity of the environment in which the birds live. Your aim with this product is to make the droppings small, firm and well formed with just a small water ring around each one. For 2 ounces of water I would start with 2 drops of Megamix. Watch the droppings for 2 days at this dose rate. If the droppings are still too loose, then increase the dosage by 2 drops each 2 days until the droppings are small, firm and formed with just a small water ring around each one. Do not exceed 20 drops per 2 ounces of drinking water.

The following dosage rates are
for mixing into 1/2 cup of

       Dry seed
      Soaked Seed,
         Sprouts
     or Soft Food

TurboBooster can be coated onto any of the above food types. You would use 1/2 teaspoon of TurboBooster for every 1/2 cup of food mixed. I realize that this is not very much TurboBooster. With dry seed, you will not be coating every seed. You are going to spread the TurboBooster as thoroughly as possible among all the seeds in the 1/2 cup. This can be done by mixing with a fork, or placing the seed and drops of TurboBooster into a closed container and shaking it. It will spread much more easily onto soaked or sprouted seed as there will be a moisture content to these items. If you are adding it to a fresh boiled egg I would add the drops to the food processor before you begin chopping. NOTE: Shake the TurboBooster before each use. TurboBooster needs to be kept refrigerated at all times. Do not make up more of the seed mixture than your birds will eat in a 24 hour period.

ePowder, F-Vite and Bloomford will be added to the 1/2 cup of dry seed, soaked or sprouted seed or softfood at a rate of 1/8 teaspoon each. It will stick to all the seeds that have gotten TurboBooster coated onto them. The ePowder and F-Vite can also be placed into a small finger treat cup and fed free choice, especially during the Breeding Season.
