Bird Seed

Moth Traps

Package of 2 non-toxic traps captures the moths in your home that contaminate birdseed. Lure attracts flour moths, meal moths, seed moths, almond moths, raisin moths and most other food moths. Each trap will work up to three months under normal conditions. Traps are disposable and extremely effective. Completely safe around food products and your birds.

Where did those moths come from?

You know that you keep a clean house…well maybe not the bird room exactly, but where did all those moths come from all of a sudden? They hatched inside of your bird seed and are now about to infest your aviary, and possibly your entire home. But they can be stopped!

Entomologists believe that up to 80% of households are infested with these insects, but most people don’t even realize they are infested until they find worms in their food or have little moths flying around the house. That is why it is important to make sure that you do not store products like flour, rice, pasta, cereal or pet foods for long periods of time unless they are repackaged in plastic or glass containers with tight fitting lids. When the temperature and humidity level is right, the eggs that were laid in these products during the manufacturing process (farms, grain elevators, feed processors, food-handling facilities and stores) will hatch out into worms that are capable of eating their way out of packaging into other food stored nearby. They will feed on the grain until they mature and begin looking for a good place to pupate into the adult moths. Once that happens they will quickly begin looking for mates.

A scientific solution!

Now is the time to take proactive measures in your home. Modern science offers a non-toxic solution to these pesky problems. You see, female moths emit a chemical messenger, a pheromone that attracts the male moths over long distances. The message is irresistible to the male moths, often within second or minutes.

Agro-Bio Tech Corporation has placed this same female pheromone into their moth traps. The trap combines the moth pheromone in a simple  release device with a glue coated surface to catch and kill the male moths. Without their mates, the female moths cannot lay eggs, and the life cycle will be broken when the traps are used year round. When you see many male moths inside of the traps, you will know of the infestation and can examine all of the possible food and seed that you have stored to find the infestation and remove it.

It has been reported by an Agro-Bio Tech entomologist, Michael Banfield that he has walked into an infested store and captured 200-300 moths in 1 lure within 5 minutes.

This product really works and they are a must have for all bird lovers, whether you have caged birds inside of your home or store seed for the wild birds throughout the year. Remember, it is just a matter of the right temperature and humidity to release that avalanche of moths into your home!
